The Goleta Valley South LL 12U All-Stars opened the District 63 tournament with a 10-0 rout of Santa Paula LL on Thursday.
The GVSLL pitching trio of Benn Hause, Brooks Caldwell and Dylan Corlett combined to shut out Santa Paula and lead their team to the win.
The game remained a scoreless tie until the top of the fourth when Calvin Firestone belted a two-run homer to go up 2-0.
The GVSLL offense was on fire from there, plating three runs in the fifth courtesy of a pair of errors and an RBI single by Brooks Caldwell to take a 5-0 lead.
In the sixth, GVSLL kept it rolling as Firestone and Corlett blasted back-to-back home runs to spark a big rally. Brandon Munoz, Quincy Niksto and C. Venegas all drove in runs as well to help pull away for the 10-0 win.
Munoz, Caldwell, Corlett, Hause, Firestone and Ethan Sierra all went 2-for-3 to pace the GVSLL offensive attack.
