The Goleta Valley South LL Junior All-Stars clinched a spot in the District 63 championship with a 6-4 win over Foothill LL on Friday at Girsh Park.
GVSLL will now clash with crosstown rival Dos Pueblos LL for the District 63 title on Saturday at 10 a.m. back at Girsh Park. Earlier in the tournament, DPLL defeated GVSLL, 25-7.
Luke Larkin belted an RBI triple in the top of the first to give GVSLL an early lead, but Foothill answered back with two runs in the second to grab its first lead of the night.
However, GVSLL jumped back on top for good in the top of the third thanks to run-scoring singles by Jackson Brennan and Nathan Pierce and a bases-loaded walk by Remi Pfeifer.
Larkin earned the win on the mound for GVSLL, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out five in 5 â…“ innings. Nick Perez-Herrera took over and earned the save.
Offensively, Elias Rector and Brennan led GVSLL with two hits apiece, while Perez-Herrera drove in a pair of runs.
The GVSLL Junior All-Stars are Colin Beck, Beck Bergakker, Blake Bollman, Jackson Brennan, Judah Hooper, Luke Larkin, Nick Perez-Herrera, Remi Pfeifer, Elias Rector, Paxton Strong and Jameson Wrenn.
The team is managed by Casey Brennan with assistant Coaches Brett Bollman, Billy Wrenn and Daniel Hooper.
