The Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association (GVGSA) 10-Under Thunder team continued their summer season success by defeating the Five Cities Eagles with a mercy-rule score of 16-1 in the championship game of the Beat the Heat tournament held this past weekend in Arroyo Grande.

With the win, this is now the second year in the row that the team came out on top in this tournament.

The Thunder went undefeated in the five-game tournament, hitting .661 as a team while producing 74 hits, four of which were home runs, and 68 runs.

The pitching backed up the strong offensive showing, as Goleta pitchers struck out 37 batters and allowed just eight runs while holding opponents to a batting average of .169 for the entire weekend.

The 10U Thunder team has been on a roll this summer, placing first in five different tournaments and coming in second place in two others.

Members of the team include Michelle Galicia, Emily Morici, Dylann Ramirez, Bailey Conway, Sofia Bautista, Cami Weiss, Sophia Munoz, Lily Fennel, Jasmine Rollman, Farrah Weiss, Julie Weiss, Cyrus Morici, Justin Ramirez and Mario Galicia.
