Dos Pueblos golfer Teddy Vigna shot a 7-under 65 Thursday at River Ridge’s par-72 Vineyard course to take medallist honors in a Channel League win over Oxnard.
It was a bogey-free round for Vigna, and he hit 17 greens in regulation, Charger coach Kevin Ahlers said, “but his highlight was lipping out on hole 12 for a near hole in one.”
The Chargers remain undefeated in Channel League matches at 6-0, and will face 6-0 rival San Marcos on Tuesday for the league championship at Sandpiper.
There were other performances the coach praised in the 369-530 team win.
Laith Reynolds was able to shoot under par for the first time ever, Ahlers said. “His favorite part was scoring an eagle on 15. He finished with a 70. Scott nightingale was able to shot a 73 and was able to really stay focused on tee shots and was able to hit 11 out of 13 fairways.”
In addition, “freshman Orlando Ramirez Gijon was able to shoot a personal best in his first varsity match, shooting an 86. He was able to finish his round strong with a birdie on 18, which is an island green, and he sunk a 30-foot putt.
“Wyatt Gardiner shot a 75. He was able to scramble pretty well and get up and down on a number of holes.”
Dos Pueblos is 10-1 overall.

He was closely followed by Jeffrey Forster and Shams Jahangir-Arshad with even-par 71s, and Holdt Gore with a 75.
“We played really solid as a team for the second straight match, and we are hopeful that we hit our stride going into the end of the season,” San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton said.
“Holdt has been playing really well lately and had another solid round today. Jeffrey had a couple of tough rounds recently, but has been working hard to get his game back where he wants it and played great today.”
