The team of Chad Beuoy and Chris Gregoire fired a 9-under par 61 for the first-round lead Saturday in the Santa Barbara Classic, a two-day, 36-hole, best-ball tournament at the Santa Barbara Golf Course on Saturday.

Beuoy/Gregoire hold a one-shot lead over three teams in the gross-scoring Santa Cruz Flight. At 62, are Jeffrey-Forster/Teddy Vigna, Ben Tumbel/Alec Constantinides and Grady Smith/Mitchell Martin.

Defending champions John Gilles/Tyler Ley are four shots back at 65.

Playing in calm conditions, a total of 19 teams shot under par on Saturday.

In the net scoring, Dale Keene/Scott Denesha shot a 62 to lead the San Miguel Flight; there’s a three-way tie in the Santa Rosa Flight, with David Hurlbut/Darren Taylor, Gus Hurlbut/Cole Plutchak and David Prekker/Todd Johnson at 64; Henry Franco/David Demauro and Charlie Yusta/Tony Valdez share the lead in the Anacapa Flight at 65.

In the women’s Santa Barbara Flight, Sheri Dean/Esther McKinley lead with a 68.
