Grassini Family Vineyards, a Santa Barbara local family winery, is supporting the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County with its annual fundraiser Grassini Gives Back.
“This year, the global pandemic has had terrible impacts on our local community,” said Katie Grassini. “So we wanted to partner with a nonprofit that is helping folks with the most immediate needs.”
Grassini will donate $10 from every bottle of wine sold through Dec. 20, and will double that to a $20 donation for every bottle of their 2019 Happy Canyon Sauvignon Blanc (dubbed “sunshine in a glass”).
Grassini is also doubling all donations made here through Dec. 20, up to $50,000. Community members may also order wine by phone or online and contribute by check when wine delivery is made.
That means community members could collectively help the Foodbank receive $100,000 to continue its critical service to the community. Need for food assistance has doubled since the COVID-19 crisis began, and the Foodbank foresees a protracted economic impact even after businesses are allowed to reopen.
“The Foodbank expects to see continued high need in the community for 18 months to two years, even after life returns to normal and people can get back to work,” said Dan Thomas, Foodbank’s chief development officer.
“That’s why generous support from local businesses like Grassini Gives Back are extra meaningful for the funds, and for the way they bring the community together toward a common goal of providing food for those facing hunger,” he said.
