For those looking to get involved in climate action and make a difference, the Community Environmental Council (CEC) invites the public to attend the following free public events at its Environmental Hub, 1219 State St., Santa Barbara.
“Grassroots action is more critical than ever to combat climate change and protect local communities. From film screenings and public talks to advocacy meetups and environmental justice conversations, the Hub is a space where community members can gather, learn, and lead,” CEC said.
The upcoming events are:
• Sierra Club Santa Barbara Group Monthly Gathering
: Tuesday, May 13, noon-1:30 p.m.
Learn about the local Sierra Club’s efforts to protect natural resources and promote environmental health in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
• An Evening of Wild Hope
: Thursday, May 15, 6:30-8 p.m.
View screenings from the PBS series “Wild Hope,” with stories of global changemakers and nature’s resilience. Hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ed Humes.
• Drive Clean Assistance Program – Apply for EV Savings
: Wednesday, May 21, 2-5 p.m.
Save up to $12,000 on an EV lease or purchase. Find out if you qualify and get free in-person assistance applying for California’s clean vehicle incentive programs.
• Environmental Justice Through Grassroots Activism
: Thursday, May 29, 6:30-8 p.m.
Join activists Diego Magaña and Solimar Gutierrez for a discussion on environmental justice, food sovereignty, and community-driven change.
