Local fans of musician Grant Geissman’s signature guitar stylings can hear Nov. 21 at The Grand on State, where Geissman will appear with an all-star quintet.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. at 1218 State St., Santa Barbara.
Geissman got his start in jazz big bands in LA before being recruited by Chuck Mangione for years of extensive touring.
“His legendary guitar solo on Mangione’s mega-selling hit ‘Feels So Good’ has become mandatory learning for aspiring young jazz guitar players,” event organizers said.
Along with extensive work in and on television, Geissman has been one of LA’s signature session players for decades. Solo and with a group, he has recorded more than a dozen albums.
At The Grand, Geissman will be joined by Brian Scanlon on horns, Gary Matsumoto on piano, Lyman Medeiros on bass, and Kevin Winard on drums.
The Geissman group performance is part of The Grand on State’s Visiting Artists series, which has featured Ernie Watts, Terell Stafford, Roberta Gambarini, Peter Erskine, Alan Pasqua, and Tamir Hendlemen.
