The GVGSA 10U Goleta Thunder captured the Orcutt Swing Into Summer Tournament championship last weekend in Orcutt.
In the championship game, Goleta fell into an early 5-1 deficit against Lompoc, but the Thunder battled all the way back for a 9-8 victory to clinch the title.
“Our girls showed tremendous heart, toughness, and belief in each other all weekend, especially in the championship game,” Goleta head coach Phil Morones said.
“Being down 5-1 early could have rattled a lot of teams, but these girls never quit. They kept fighting, trusted one another, and played with confidence until the final out.
The Thunder went 4-0 on the weekend and will look to continue their All-Star season success throughout the summer.
“What makes this group special is that everyone contributes,” Morones said. Every player played a role in this championship. Whether it was a big hit, a key defensive play, or supporting a teammate, this was a complete team effort from start to finish.”
