The GVGSA Goleta Lightning Bolts dominated their way to a 12U gold bracket championship in the Amanda Tree Winter Tournament last weekend in Simi Valley.
The Lightning rolled to an undefeated 5-0 in the tournament, while outscoring opponents 45-9. In the championship game, Goleta came out on top, 4-1.
“This group played amazing softball all weekend,” Goleta manager Nick Henderson said. “Their confidence in themselves and their teammates was on full display, as was their joy of competing and playing softball. They hit all weekend, dominated from the circle and played stellar defense.
“Every single player had a big hit to keep a rally going, and our pitching and defense controlled the games. They played their best softball in the biggest tournament of the fall season. I am so proud of this group of athletes.”
The Goleta Lightning Bolts consist of Marissah Corral, Charlie Andre, Alanna Millinghaus, Peyton Henderson, Maddie Anderson, Kayla Hollowell, Lillian Onishi, Harper Read, Ava Rodriguez, Makaela Muhr, Mia Tarka, Brooklyn Rifkin, Maclean Fergus and Farrah Weiss.
The team is managed by Nick Henderson with coaches Justin Anderson, Javier Read and Matt Tarka.
