The Goleta Valley South LL Major Orioles took down the Dos Pueblos LL Major Orioles by a score of 4-1 in the Crosstown Championship on Wednesday at Girsh Park.

With the victory, the GVSLL Orioles claimed the Tournament of Champions Perpetual Trophy, which originated in 1985 and celebrates the friendly rivalry between little leagues.

Blake Bollman was electric on the mound for GVSLL, tossing a complete game while allowing one run on just two hits and striking out a whopping 13 batters. He also did not issue a single walk in the win.

The lone run off of Bollman was scored in the first inning as Julian F* roped an RBI double to take an early 1-0 lead.

However, GVSLL answered in the top of the second by scoring on a hit off the bat of John Matis to tie the game up at 1-1.

That score held until the fourth, when GVSLL’s Ollie Cottle came through with a clutch go-ahead single to take the lead. 

From there, GVSLL tacked on two insurance runs and Bollman cruised on the mound en route to the victory.

Brandon Munoz, Brennan Zant and Henry Wichowski each tallied two hits for GVSLL while Perrish McGinn drove in one of the insurance runs.

The GVSLL Major Orioles consist of Blake Bollman, Jackson Murdock, Brennan Zant, Perrish McGinn, Brandon Munoz, Ollie Cottle, Henry Wichowski, Henry Miller, Will Nash, John Matis, Brennan Conway and Oscar Dotson Potter.

The team is managed by Brett Bollman with assistant coachesBrian Zant, Jesse Landeros and Chris Wichowski.

The Major Division in Little League is made up of players ages 9 through 12.
