Hamilton Finefrock started his senior year in fine style, pitching five innings of one-hit, scoreless baseball and collecting three hits in an 8-2 victory by Bishop Diego over Fillmore in the Southern California Tournament on Saturday,

The recent Claremont McKenna commit got the offense going with a lead-off double and scored on a single by Isaac Medina. He went 3 for 4 and scored three runs.

The Cardinals added four runs in the top of the second. Gabe Martinez hit a two-out, bases-loaded single in the fourth to make it 7-0.

Luc Maho and Dax Donati each had pinch-hit doubles, Adrian Soracco went 2-4 with a stolen base and Jackson Haskell and Martinez each had two RBI.

Nico Sanchez took over on the mound and pitched the final two innings to secure the win.

Coach Nick Katzenstein noted the heads-up base running by Soracco and Devin Goodwin in the second inning that helped the four spot.

He also praised second baseman Daniel Gianinni’s defensive play on a ball hit up the middle. Gianinni gloved it back-handed and made a jump throw to get the runner.
