The city of Goleta and Mission Refill invite community members for a morning of local environmental stewardship, 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 19 as part of Plastic Free July and the City’s Plastic Free Goleta initiative.
Participants will meet up at the Ellwood entrance, intersection of Cannon Green Drive and Phelps Road, for a litter cleanup focused on the Ellwood Bluffs and surrounding Marketplace neighborhood.
Street parking is available, but alternative transportation options are suggested to keep the event light on emissions and strong on sustainability, the city said.
This year’s cleanup will again be headed by Valerie Voorhees of Mission Refill, who advocates for for zero-waste living and community action.
In keeping with the sustainability theme of the event, the city will give volunteers a reusable Go Green Goleta cutlery set, and Mission Refill will provide them with free hand-soap refills. (Bring any empty, clean jar or container; up to 16oz per person as supplies last).
