It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Heriberta “Eri” Montes Rubio, our beloved mom, wife, aunt, daughter and sister, on June 21, 2025 at the age of 42.

Eri was an amazing wife and mother to one son. Her priority was always her son and her family, her dedication to helping others in need will never go without being recognized.

She loved to go on walks with her son, and visit restaurants with family.

Eri was born on March 16, 1984 in Santa Teresa, Guerrero to Abundio Montes and Honoria Rubio.

Eri came to Goleta, where she went to school at Isla Vista Elementary School, then Goleta Valley Junior High School, and graduated from San Marcos High School.

Eri was married to Gelacio Trujillo in 2019 and was blessed with an amazing son Alejandro Trujillo.

Eri is survived by her husband Gelacio Trujillo; son Alejandro Trujillo; mother Honoria Rubio; father Abundio Montes; brothers Abundio Montes (Chino), Honorio Montes, Martin Montes, Jose Montes, Silverio Montes, Galdino Montes; and sister Minda Montes.

Eri was a strong, confident woman who always stayed firm in her ethical convictions, she was compassionate and generous and very selfless.

The family would like to thank everyone who has helped with her funeral services and has been there for the family in this hard time of need.

A rosary will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, July 7 at Our lady of Guadalupe church, 227 N. Nopal St., Santa Barbara.

A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, also at Our lady of Guadalupe church, followed by interment at Goleta Cemetery, 44 S. San Antonio Road, Santa Barbara.
