Santa Maria set a high-temperature record for the date on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The reading of 87 degrees at the Santa Maria Public Airport eclipsed the mark of 86 set in 1932.
The record was among several set in Southern California, including a reading of 97 degrees in Woodland Hills, which bested a mark of 92 set in 1996.
The summer-like weather is expected to continue on Saturday, with a high of 80 forecast in Santa Maria.
A high of 81 was reached at the Santa Barbara Airport, well below the record of 85 set in 1976.
A gradual cooling is expected beginning on Sunday, with highs around 70.
Highs in the 80s also are likely on the South Coast and in other areas of Santa Barbara County, according to the National Weather Service.
Overnight lows are expected to be in the upper-40s.
There is no rain in the forecast through at least next week.
