A High-Wind Warning was issued Wednesday afternoon for the foothills and mountains above Santa Barbara, Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service were calling for north winds of 35-45 mph, with gusts to 65 mph.

The warning will be in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday.

“Damaging winds will blow down large objects such as trees and power lines,” according to the warning. “Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

People are advised to avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches.

“If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows,” according to the warning. “Use caution if you must drive.”

Wednesday afternoon will see mostly sunny conditions, but still a 30% chance of showers, including scattered brief hail storms, with a high of 52.

Sunny skies are forecast Thursday through Saturday, with daytime highs in the upper-50s, and overnight lows around 40.

A slight chance of rain is possible Sunday and Sunday night.
