The California Highway Patrol says driving under the influence is suspected in a Highway 154 head-on collision that injured three people, one critically, Thursday morning.
The two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:53 a.m. near San Antonio Creek Road.
A preliminary investigation determined the driver of a GMC Sierra truck was traveling eastbound on the highway when it crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic and collided with a Pontiac Vibe sedan, according to the Santa Barbara CHP office.
Highway 154 was closed in both directions for several hours Thursday morning after the crash. The roadway was reopened between Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez around 9:50 a.m.
One patient had to be extricated from a vehicle and suffered major injuries, said Capt. Scott Safechuck of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Two other patients reported moderate injuries and all three were transported to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Safechuck said.
The accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
