Emergency crews responded early Saturday evening to a report of a hiker who sustained a lower leg injury on the Romero Canyon Trail, according to the Montecito Fire Department.

The initial emergency call came in at around 5:23 p.m.

“The patient fell and suffered an injury to her lower leg. Firefighters located the patient on the trail and brought her down to the trailhead,” Atchison said.

Crews used a Stokes basket and an all-terrain vehicle, UTV91. Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue also responded, per Atchison.

The patient was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
