A hiker in distress was airlifted from the mountains above Santa Barbara on Monday, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Firefighters, Search & Rescue Team members and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 1:20 p.m. to assist the hiker, who was on Cathedral Peak, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.
The man was evaluated and treated by fire paramedics, then hoisted off the mountain by the county’s Copter 3 , and flown to the Santa Barbara Airport, Safechuck said.
The patient, whose name was not released, refused transport to the hospital, he added.
