Multiple agencies rescued an injured hiker off the lower Tangerine Falls Trail near Montecito Tuesday morning after she had an allergic reaction to fire ants.

The Montecito Fire Department, Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue and the Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit responded to the area at around 10:15 a.m. for a report of an injured hiker.

Air Support Unit Copter 308 “located the hiker and lowered a rescuer to hoist her out,” a Montecito Fire spokesperson said on social media.

The hiker was taken to the hospital by helicopter for further treatment.
