Dos Pueblos boys lacrosse was one of the top teams in California this spring, reaching the CIF-SS Division 2 Finals after a dominant undefeated regular season.

The Chargers rolled through Channel League play, going 8-0 en route to another league title. As a result, they earned all six of the individual awards handed out by the Channel League.

While Dos Pueblos led the way, Santa Barbara High, Cate and San Marcos all garnered All-Channel League recognitions as well.

The Chargers went 8-0 in league play, while outscoring opponents 130-22. With that dominance, the Dos Pueblos coaching staff, led by head coach Lucas Martinez, was named the Channel League Staff of the Year.

Senior Cal Denier was in the middle of the team’s success as the team’s faceoff man, winning 270 faceoffs at a 79.6% clip to finish fifth in the state and earn the Channel League Most Valuable Player award.

Meanwhile, the senior duo of Jack Finneran and Orion Prewarski turned many of Denier’s faceoff wins into goals throughout the season and were named Channel League Co-Offensive Players of the Year.

Finneran and Prewarski both broke the league record for points in a season. Finneran scored 69 goals and dished out 48 assists, while Prewarski finished with 58 goals and 54 assists.

While the Chargers were filling up the stat sheet on the offensive end, they were dominating defensively at the same time. Seniors Andrew Forsland and Danny Perez anchored the defense and were awarded the Defensive Player of the Year and Goalie of the Year honors, respectively.

Forsland played a key role in the team’s zone defense and ended the season with 37 takeaways and 46 ground balls. Meanwhile, Perez racked up 150 saves and allowed just 4.8 goals per game.

The 17-player senior class for the Chargers capped off their high school careers in style, and five of them were named to the All-League First Team.

Attacker Daniel Finneran, midfielder Gus Miller, midfielder Parker Bentley, long stick midfielder Makai Callis and midfielder Chase Carlson all represent Dos Pueblos on the First Team.

The All-League Second Team Chargers were senior defender Mitchell Maskerey, senior midfielder Roman Christou, junior defender Jackson Sillers and sophomore midfielder Koa Birchim.

Senior midfielder Holden Dicogno, senior defender Marko Lorkovic, senior midfielder Vince Crisa and junior midfielder Austin Fauver rounded out the team’s honorees as All-League Honorable Mentions.

The trio of senior attacker Jasper Larrson, senior midfielder DJ Wilson and junior defender Dane Polchin led the charge on each of the three levels to take home All-Channel League First Team honors.

Junior midfielder Connor Jackson, junior defender Liam Hickey and freshman long stick midfielder Mason Bosma gave Santa Barbara High fans plenty to look forward to next year and graced the All-League Second Team.
