A club boys basketball team composed of players from four local high schools is having a good summer season.

The Hustle Hoops 17U Black team has captured titles in two tournaments, finished second in another and won 11 of 12 games over the past few weeks.

The team is comprised of student/athletes from Santa Barbara High, San Marcos, Dos Pueblos and Laguna Blanca. Santa Barbara High’s Greg Zuffelato is the coach.

“We used a mix of all these players for each of the three tournaments,” he said

The Santa Barbara-based club won the Sports Academy 17U Gold Division in Thousand Oaks and captured the West Coast Elite 17U Silver Division Summer Classic in Seal Beach.

The runner-up finish came at the West Coast Elite 64 Vegas Summer Championships in Las Vegas.

Hustle Hoops beat teams from Australia, Hawaii, Utah, Nevada, Northern California, and Southern California. 

The team members are Carter Battle, Julian Espinosa, Kaden Ridge, Tobin Shyrock, Finn Whipps, DJ Wilson and Luke Zuffelato of Santa Barbara; Ryken Hammond and Joe Pasternack of San Marcos; Allister Linden and Justin Stock of Dos Pueblos, and Eva Nayak of Laguna Blanca.

Kareem Battle and Waylon Finkel join Greg Zuffelato on the coaching staff.
