One person was flown to the hospital with serious injuries Friday after being trapped in an industrial machine in Guadalupe for several hours.
The patient was in stable condition when they were transported, a Cal Fire spokesperson told The Tribune. The incident was reported around 8:45 a.m. on Friday, according to emergency response app PulsePoint.
The industrial rescue closed a portion of Highway 1 through Guadalupe on Friday afternoon.
According to a post by Cal Fire on X, multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Santa Maria Fire, Guadalupe Fire, SLO County Sheriffโs Office and multiple medical response teams.
A photo appeared to show responders attempting to extricate someone or something from a piece of industrial equipment. Responders worked around a wheeled machine, with a ladder bridging over and several ropes hanging overhead.
The spokesperson did describe the efforts by the Urban Search and Rescue team and other responders as a โhuge success.โ Paramedics and medical transport responders kept the patient stable as pieces of heavy machinery were cut away from the scene, she said.
The rescue had closed a portion of Highway 1 in both directions in Guadalupe near Oso Flaco, the post said.
