Two people were injured Sunday when a truck drove off a driveway and plunged down a hillside in Montecito, according to the Montecito Fire Protection District.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched just before 11 a.m. to the incident on East Mountain Drive at Coyote Road.

“The male driver of the truck accidentally drove the vehicle off his driveway and down an embankment,” the district said in a tweet.

The driver and a female passenger both suffered minor injuries in the mishap.

Firefighters established a low-angle rope rescue system to bring the pair to safety, and they were taken by American Medical Response ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

Their names and details on their conditions were not available.

Assisting on the incident were personnel from the Santa Barbara Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.
