A 51-year-old paraglider was rescued by helicopter Monday afternoon after crashing into rough terrain on the South Coast and sustaining moderate injuries.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office received the call for help at 1:17 p.m. in the area east of Toro Canyon, County Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
The woman was hoist rescued by Air Support Unit helicopter, along with her gear, he said.
The patient was treated on-site by paramedics before she was transferred to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries, Safechuck said.
American Medical Response, the Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue personnel also responded to the rescue.
