A woman escaped with only minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when she was hit by a car and ended up stuck under the vehicle near Santa Barbara, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. on a private driveway on the 2900 block of Foothill Road, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.
The mishap reportedly happened when the driver mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes.
Firefighters used special airbags to lift the vehicle and free the woman, Safechuck said.
She was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, he added.
Her name and details on her condition were not available.
