Emergency crews responded to a vehicle collision with injuries reported on Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley Thursday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol initially reported the incident as a head-on collision at 12:22 p.m.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department personnel also responded to the scene, which was near Armour Ranch Road, between Santa Ynez and Lake Cachuma.

Two people were reportedly injured in the crash and transported to local hospitals. The CHP said the roadway would be briefly closed for a Calstar helicopter to land and airlift one of the patients to the hospital. No details were immediately available.

Caltrans signs were activated saying eastbound Highway 154 was closed to Santa Barbara and warning drivers of delays. There was a large amount of debris involved and the roadway was cleared around 1:45 p.m., according to the CHP.
