At least one person was injured Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the southbound freeway lanes near the State Street offramp.

A female driver was injured when her vehicle was struck from behind at high speed by another vehicle, said Capt. Matt Wilson of the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

She was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Her name and details on her condition were not available.

A total of three vehicles were involved in the collision, and the southbound freeway was completely shut down for a time, CHP Officer Michael Fabila told Noozhawk.

Two of the three freeway lanes were reopened at about 2:50 p.m.

Personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department also responded to the incident.

The crash remained under investigation by the CHP.
