The Peoples’ Self-Help Housing’s (PSHH) team has been working over the past year to build a new property in Guadalupe called Guadalupe Court, which will provide much-needed affordable, supportive housing for those working in agriculture throughout the Central Coast.
With construction finishing up in the next month, PSHH is preparing to welcome these farmworker households into their new home.
“We are so proud to bring more quality, affordable housing to the city of Guadalupe,” said John Fowler, president/CEO of PSHH. “Guadalupe Court is one-of-a-kind and will be the perfect place for farmworker families to call home.”
Guadalupe Court is comprised of 38 new rental units (one-, two- and three-bedroom). Amenities include a spacious outdoor courtyard, onsite laundry facilities, barbecue area, playground, and community center.
The property is innovative as it will be the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum building in the city, and will provide wrap-around services for its residents with an after-school education program and compassionate, onsite, licensed social workers.
Units are available for Guadalupe Court and applications can be picked up from Riverview Townhomes, 230 Calle Cesar E. Chavez, Guadalupe. An application also can be requested by email at gc@pshhc.org, online at pshhc.org/new-housing, or by calling 805-249-2040.
Direct questions about the application process and eligibility to gc@pshhc.org or 805-249-2040.
If you know someone who may benefit from living at Guadalupe Court, refer them and you will receive an $800 gift-card benefit. Referrals can be submitted to gc@pshhc.org or by calling 805-249-2040.
To receive the benefit, the eligible applicant must move in by Sept. 1. For more information, visit pshhc.org/new-housing and visit the PSHH YouTube Channel for a virtual tour of the property, including a look at one of the units.
