Santa Barbara County sheriff’s spokeswoman Raquel Zick on Sunday identifed the suspect as 26-year-old Rylen Quinn Svane-Morris of Lancaster.

Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday to a residence on Jason Way, off North Refugio Road near Santa Ynez Valley Union High School, where they found the body of an adult male.

Svane-Morris had fled the scene, Zick said, and is suspected of stealing a 2014 Chrysler minivan from a nearby neighborhood a few hours later. The minivan has a California license plate of 7GJW053.

“The suspect should be considered dangerous, and we are asking anyone who sees the suspect or the vehicle to immediately call 9-1-1 and do not approach or attempt to contact,” Zick said.

Svane-Morris was described as a 5-foot-11 white male, 190 pounds, with light brown hair and blue eyes.

The name of the homicide victim has not been disclosed by the Sheriff’s Department.
