The community of Isla Vista is preparing for its first ever swap meet. Local students, families, and community members are invited out to enjoy the warm weather and discover some unique finds.
Led by the Isla Vista Small Artist Cooperative, the swap meet will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Isla Vista Community Center at 976 Embarcadero Del Mar.
Locals are also invited to come out and sell, and are not expected to pay any vendor’s fees. Any interested vendors can register online here.
Inspired by the limited space available to the thrifting community, recent UC Santa Barbara graduate and Small Artist Cooperative coordinator Robbin Balagtas is hoping the event provides that outlet to the community.
“You never know what treasure you’ll find,” Balagtas says. “ It’ll be a good place to come spend your money and just have fun.”
Buyers can expect to find local vendors selling modern and vintage clothing, jewelry, glasses, furniture, electronics, household items, handmade goods, food, and more.
At least 20 vendors have already signed up as of Tuesday, organizers said.
Parking will be available at the Isla Vista Community Center.
