Santa Barbara County is blessed with a diversity of vital nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the health, well-being, growth, civic leadership and compassion of our community.

Charitable giving and philanthropy are part of our identity, which is why Noozhawk is proud to support the nonprofit community through sponsoring local community organizations and events.

To showcase our support of the event, Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair, Noozhawk spoke with Sara Diederich Co-Founder of Jackalope Gives to learn more about their event.

Jackalope Gives

Question: What is the name and date of your event?

Answer: Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair | July 11th & 12th, 2026

Q: What is the mission, goal, and/or theme of this occasion?

A: A celebration of creativity, community, and craftsmanship. Where shopping small, engaging with artists, and enjoying live experiences all come together in a relaxed, coastal festival atmosphere.

The overall goal is to create an environment where people can slow down, discover unique handmade work, and engage directly with the artists behind it.

Q: Have you held this event before?

A: This is the inaugural event in Santa Barbara. Jackalope has hosted events across the country since 2015, starting in Pasadena CA.

Q: Tell us some more details about your celebration?

A: The celebration is a two day, outdoor artisan festival designed to feel welcoming, creative, and community driven. Taking place at Alameda Park, it brings together a curated lineup of independent makers offering handmade goods across categories like art, jewelry, home décor, art, apparel, and specialty foods.

Beyond shopping, the event is built as an experience. Attendees can enjoy live music throughout the weekend, a selection of local food trucks, and interactive elements like craft stations, hair sparkles, and a slime bar for kids. There are also small touches like free sunglasses and fan-decorating that make the event feel festive and accessible for all ages.

As Jackalope’s first year in Santa Barbara, there’s an added focus on connecting with the local community.

Q: How do people get involved with your event? (volunteer, attend, etc.) – If your event includes ticket sales, please note the price and include a link to purchase tickets.

A: People can get involved in a few different ways, depending on how they want to participate:

Attend: The event is free and open to the public, so anyone can come out to Alameda Park, explore the artisan booths, enjoy live music, grab food from local trucks, and take part in the interactive activities.

Apply as an artisan: While applications have closed for the event officially, waitlist applications are still open at www.jackalopeartfair.com/waitlist.

Community partnerships: Local schools, art programs, and organizations can get involved through collaborations, such as hosting a booth, showcasing student work, or participating in activities. Interested parties can apply here.

Sponsors & partners: Businesses can participate by sponsoring the event or collaborating on activations that enhance the attendee experience.

Q: Is this a fundraising affair? If so, how will the funds raised help your organization?

A: No.

Q: Who is sponsoring your event, and why is their support important?

A: Jackalope Gives is a co-sponsor of the event. As part of our mission through Jackalope Gives, we’re hosting free art-making activities throughout the weekend, providing a hands-on, inspiring space for families to connect with the arts.

Q: Do you work with an Event Planner? If not, who are the key people who make it all happen?

A: Jackalope is independently produced in-house and is run by a small but dedicated team of three: Melissa, Sara, and Gloria. Rather than working with a separate event planner, the team collaboratively manages every aspect of the festival, from artist outreach and jurying to logistics, marketing, community partnerships, and event day operations.

Because the team is intentionally small and hands on, Jackalope maintains a personal, community centered approach. The organizers work directly with artists and partners throughout the process, which helps create an event experience that feels thoughtful, approachable, and supportive of independent makers.

Q: Does your organization have any other upcoming events this year?

A: Yes. Next up after Santa Barbara, we’ll be heading to San Diego in August, and then back to Pasadena in September!
