Jake Carroll won the final bout of the night with a pin to give the San Marcos boys wrestling team a 46-36 win over Pacifica in a Channel League dual meet opener at the Thunderhut.
The Tritons won matches at 170, 182 and 195 pounds to pull them within six points of the Royals, 40-34.
Carroll rose to the occasion and scored a pin to clinch the victory.
The Royals went up 24-6 on pins from Manny Munoz, Jacob Dominguez and Angel Estrada. San Marcos also got pins from Chuck Wickline and Ambrose Partee and a decision from Levi Cooper.
