At the age of 95, our beloved Jennie Rayas passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of beautiful memories, and a legacy of love that will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
Born Jennie Martinez, she attended Santa Barbara High School.
Jennie was a woman who loved with her whole heart. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care for others made her someone truly special.
She was always willing to listen, offer comfort, and see the good in everyone. She believed in people, often seeing the best in them, even when they couldn’t see it in themselves.
Her loving heart and gentle spirit were gifts to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Jennie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially cooking and gardening. Whether preparing a meal for those she loved or tending to her garden, she found special ways to nurture and bring happiness to others.
Her home and her table were places where love was shared, memories were made, and family always mattered.
Her faith was an important part of her life, providing strength and guidance throughout her 95 years. She carried that faith in the way she treated others, the love she shared, and the kindness she extended to everyone around her.
Jennie also dedicated 30 years of her life to serving others through her work at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, a testament to her commitment and caring nature.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alejandro, and leaves behind her loving sons Paul (Keena Mae) and Michael; along with extended family and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Although we will miss her more than words can express, we find comfort in knowing that the love she gave will continue to live on through all of us. Her lessons of kindness, faith, compassion, and unconditional love will remain with us always.
She lived with faith, loved with her whole heart, and left this world a little more beautiful because she was in it.
She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
Services will include the Rosary at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 and Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, both at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 21 E. Sola St., Santa Barbara
