Jennifer Weisman will be joining the Board of Directors of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM), Sigrid Toye, board president has announced.

Weisman has been involved with the museum for several years and is committed to youth education. The museum’s staff and directors are looking forward to working with her in her new capacity, Toye said.

“SBMM is excited to have Jennifer join our Board of Directors,” said Greg Gorga, executive director. “Jennifer brings her passion for education and sailing to our museum, and has already demonstrated a commitment to furthering the museum’s mission and strategic plan goals.”

Weisman was born and raised in Santa Barbara, graduataing from Marymount (’99) and Dos Pueblos High School (’03). A certified public accountant, she received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Hawaii Pacific University and a master’s degree in applied economics from San Diego State University.

After starting her career as an audit associate for KPMG, LLP in San Diego, Weisman moved to Pittsburgh, where she worked as a staff accountant at McClintock & Associates PC and Tobii Dynavox before moving back to Santa Barbara in 2013

Since relocating, she has been an independent financial consultant and accountant, filled in as SBMM’s membership coordinator for 2019-20, and is currently affiliated with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties. Weisman is active in the community as an academic tutor and youth mentor for Schools on Wheels, and serves on both SBMM’s navigators circle and finance committees.

“I’m honored to further the museum’s mission of creating educational experiences that celebrate the Santa Barbara Channel,” Weisman said.
