The Lompoc City Council may get a new mayor and a new member along with a returned incumbent.

For the mayor’s post, Councilman Jeremy Ball led with 60.8% of the votes, while current Mayor James Mosby had 38.5%, according to early election results Tuesday night.

In two other races, District 2 incumbent Victor Vega was leading in his effort to serve another term after getting 51.5% compared with 48.1% for his opponent, Sharlameigne Segovia, a housing site manager. He had a 26-vote lead over Segovia.

That district covers a swath in the center of Lompoc.

For District 3, Sarah Anne Read, a registered nurse, had 62.3% compared with 37% for Nick Gonzales, a business owner.

The council’s District 3 encompasses the southeast neighborhoods of the city.

Lompoc entered Election Day with the expectation of getting at least one new council member since the District 3 incumbent, Dirk Starbuck, chose not to seek another term.

Starbuck has served for four terms since 2010 and decided against running for re-election another time.

The role of mayor is a two-year term, while the council terms are four years.

Voters from throughout Lompoc select the mayor since it remained an at-large position, while only those in the specific districts vote for the person to represent them.

Ball is in the middle of his four-term representing District 4, the southwest neighborhoods of the city.

If Ball ultimately keeps the lead, the four council members would have to appoint someone or hold a special election to fill the remaining two years of the District 4 term.

The new terms for the three elected this fall will start in December.

The Lompoc council’s fifth member is Steve Bridge, who is currently facing 20 felony and five misdemeanor charges in a criminal case filed in November 2025.

This is a developing story. Early election results will be updated as more ballots are processed and counted. Semi-official election results are expected late Tuesday night. Final, certified results will be available by Dec. 3.
