In the spring of 1986, I penned a poem entitled “Dream Fulfilled.” In those 44 lines of poetry, I gingerly attempted to incorporate iambic pentameter into the process.

This poem was one of many verses written in the early years of my Christian walk. It has never been published as it was shelved to be included in my second book of poetry, which I still plan to entitle Next Step Heaven.

Perhaps that book will be published downstream. If so. It will be a heavenly venture.

The first 20 verses follow and you’ll just have to patiently await the final 24 verses in “Dream Fulfilled” — Part 2.

So, here you go:

Soundly asleep, a stillness in the air,
Yet wind was blowing through my thinning hair.

The birds were singing a melodious song,
And this voice was saying, “Won’t you come along?”
“Come and join me. Let me show you the way.”

It was a gentle voice that made me say,
“I can’t see you. Why don’t you show your face?”
But there wasn’t one sound, wasn’t one trace.

The warmth, the placidness made me question,
Could this be a dream of intercession?

Praying for that day to be close to God,
For life after death, I’ll gladly applaud.

Applaud the glory of our Savior and King,
Who calms our lives and repairs everything,

From earthly thoughts into Heavenly realms.
He’s our Saving Grace through Gospels and Psalms.

Then this gentle voice spoke to me again,
“Turn your eyes over here, but don’t chagrin.
I’ve been waiting some time for your visit,
And pray that your stay will be exquisite.”

I can still remember writing this poem while in the air flying back from Phoenix to Ontario on a 48-minute flight.

With the miraculous assistance of the Holy Spirit, I experienced the mighty power of His words flowing to me.

Yes, my faith grew that day and solidified my trust and obedience in my Lord!

I hate not being able to share all 44 verses, but this is the ideal place to leave you hanging.

May His peace fill you as I’ve now experienced for nearly 40 years.
