Have you found yourself blatantly blurting out your relief once you finally receive something you anxiously desire?

Perhaps the phrase “Well it’s about time!” may even be heard by others around us.

We can so easily become enamored with our expectations and find ourselves growing extremely impatient. After all, why must we have to wait for our desires to be answered?

Just perhaps those desires may not be best for us in the long haul of life.

Oftentimes, patiently waiting for the arrival of longed for wishful desires actually helps us to greatly appreciate whatever we will receive.

Most of us would gladly wait for a well-prepared dinner rather than a microwaveable substitute. Slowing down and learning to appreciate the work of an artisan will give lasting pleasure.

One of my personal pleasures comes from preparing tacos for my family. It takes time to meticulously prepare the ingredients of the meal. It truly becomes a simple joy that’s been somewhat perfected over the years.

Most who question the timeliness of events may well blame God for the delay. After all, He is usually blamed for most catastrophic events — Acts of God — as if He was at fault for natural disasters.

We often forget there are other spiritual and natural forces at play in this world.

In this world, we must constantly deal in time parameters. God is not limited by the passing of time.

Spending several impressionable years as a young boy on my grandparents’ farm were invaluable. That’s where I caught the concept that good things often happen to those who patiently wait upon the Lord.

In my insurance practice, the greatest rewards sometimes took many years. Serving my clients as if I were serving my Heavenly Father became a way of doing business in due time.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.” Colossians 3:23-25

As followers of Christ, we have a distinct advantage over those who are still unconvinced in the Reality of God. Hopefully, they all are seeking the truth.

Knowing that eternity is timeless and in a blink of an eye we may be in the heavenlies causes us to look at the timing of all things quite  differently.

I hope you found the time it took to read this short discussion valuable. Come soon, Lord Jesus! Maranatha.
