Joanne May Tveidt, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many, and a faithful servant of the Lord, peacefully entered heaven on Nov. 22, 2025.
Born on Feb. 21, 1931, in Santa Barbara, Joanne was the daughter of Eugene and Muriel Bowman. She attended Peabody Elementary, La Cumbre Junior High, and graduated from Santa Barbara High School.
After graduation, Joanne married Norman Wayne Tveidt, and together they lovingly raised four children.
Family was one of Joanne’s greatest joys, and she and Norman traveled across the country often, spending cherished time with loved ones in Minnesota and North Carolina.
Joanne worked for 28 years as a legal process clerk in the Santa Barbara County Clerk-Recorder’s Office. She joyfully taught Sunday School, opened her home for weekly bible studies, and was known for hosting warm gatherings filled with love and encouragement.
She faithfully reached out to others with birthday and Christmas cards, thoughtful gifts, and regular phone calls. Her kindness blessed her 16 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren, each of whom she treasured deeply.
Joanne is survived by her daughters Mary Jo Chrestenson (Paul), Terri McInnis (David), and Shirley Agrimson (Duane); son Thomas Tveidt (Janice); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Wayne Tveidt, sister Marilyn Bingham, and brother Eugene Bowman.
Joanne will always be remembered for her warm and generous heart, her devotion to caring for others, her deep faith in Jesus, and her beloved “prayer bag,” which held the names of so many she faithfully lifted up each day.
The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the wonderful staff at Smith Health Center and Central Coast Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they provided to our mother.
