John Robert Hamilton was born in Stamford, Connecticut, the oldest of five children, to Robert and Dorothy (Pooley).

John serviced his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, then came back to the United States only to be shot in the leg in the Watts Riot while in private security.

John moved to Santa Barbara to help his mom and dad after his dad was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

John went to work at Cottage Hospital in 1979 in private security and met his wife Robin when he walked her home after work one night.

They married and started a family in 1980. They had a daughter Amber in 1981, then 3½ years later they had their son Christopher.

John went to work for Cottage Hospital in house security in 1980 and worked for over 35 years helping service the needs of patients at Cottage Hospital. John retired in 2016 to take care of his granddaughter full-time and to make sure she was healthy and happy.

John passed away at home at the age of 82 on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, surrounded by family.

John was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dorothy Hamilton, as well as his brother David.

He is fondly remembered and survived by his sisters Judy Principi and Lynn Hamilton, and his brother Pete Hamilton; and cherished by his two children Amber Hamilton of Lompoc, and Christopher Hamilton and partner Angela Barte of Goleta, and the light of his life, his beautiful granddaughters Isabella, Kayleigh and Reighlynn.

John will always be remember as the guy that would help you out no matter what, no questions asked.
