Jordan Short led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points on Wednesday night and Zak Lopez did a little of everthing with 15 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists to spark Providence past Besant Hills 62-55 in a non-league boys basktball game in Ojai.

A pair of freshman had solid performances with Diego Godinez notching a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Jonny Saunders adding 10 points.

“Mille Somogyvari was huge on the defensive end,” said coach Steve Stokes. “He guarded their very skilled, very athletic point guard and made every shot difficult. In the post game, we showed so much love for Somogyvari and how well he defended such a great player. He only scored one point himself but you can impact a game far deeper than just by how many you scored. I’m very proud of him.”

Providence (3-2) will host Coastal Christian on Saturday at San Marcos High, starting at 3 p.m.
