Julie Weiner, a former television and software executive who went on to enjoy success as a fundraising professional at UCSB, has been appointed chief development officer for the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara. Her appointment was effective April 15.
Weiner grew up in Santa Barbara and completed her graduate studies in law, management, and audiovisual communications at Pantheon-Sorbonne University in Paris after earning a bachelor’s degree in mass communications at UCLA.
The first American to receive Europe’s prestigious Carat Espace research fellowship, Weiner held a succession of programming and sales positions in the television industry.
She later served as director of international sales at both Commission Junction and Citrix Online before co-founding the cloud computing company NTRglobal.
She has worked as a consultant locally, nationally and abroad. As director of development for UCSB’s Division of Humanities and Fine Arts the last 5 1/2 years, Weiner was responsible for major gifts, asset donations, and planned gifts.
She previously served as a board member for the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara.
“Julie comes to us with an impressive record of achievement in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, and we are confident her considerable talents will serve the Scholarship Foundation well. We are very excited to welcome her to our team,” said Victoria Juarez, foundation president/CEO.
