The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department in collaboration with PLAY, Inc. and the Central Coast Running Club, invites the community to participate in the inaugural Grinchmas 5K Family Fun Run/Walk, Sunday, Dec. 14.
Proceeds from the event will benefit PLAY, Inc. and the Central Coast Running Club, supporting local recreation and community wellness programs.
The day opens with check-in at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Tiny Who Baby Crawl (ages 6-24 months), 8:30 a.m.; Grinchmas 5K Fun Run/Walk (ages 14+), 9 a.m.; and Kids 1-Mile Sprint (ages 5-13), 10:15 a.m.
The loop course begins and ends at the Edwards Community Center, 809 Panther Drive, and travels along the scenic Santa Maria River Levee Trail.
Participants are encouraged to embrace the holiday spirit by dressing as the Grinch, a Whoville character, or in their favorite festive seasonal attire to help spread cheer along the route.
A Family Fun Zone will follow the races, featuring music and vendors for post-race celebrations.
Registration categories and fees:
- Tiny Who Baby Crawl (ages 6-24 months): Free
- Kids 1-Mile Fun Run (ages 5-13): $20
- Grinchmas 5K Youth Division (ages 14-17): $20
- Grinchmas 5K Adult Division (ages 18 and older): $35
A limited number of commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase on race day.
