Each year, the Junior League of Santa Barbara (JLSB) awards grants to nonprofit organizations aligned with JLSB’s vision to improve the lives of at-risk children, youth and families in Santa Barbara County through the Community Assistance Fund (CAF) program.
Through JLSB’s 2021-22 Community Assistance Fund grants, a total of $14,000 was distributed to the following nonprofits.
Apples to Zucchini Cooking School
Gwendolyn Strong Foundation
Santa Barbara Police Activities League (SBPAL)
Santa Barbara Education Foundation
Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center
Community Counseling and Education Center (CCEC)
CALM
The CAF awards were announced at the League’s May meeting by Jessica Hawley, JLSB’s 2021-22 Community Council director, Raina Palta, president.
The projects funded were identified as programs that support the JLSB Focus Area: Improving the lives of at-risk young women by educating and empowering them to reach their full potential while working to prevent exploitation and injustice in Santa Barbara County.
The previous year, a total of $13,500 of CAF grants were awarded through JLSB to eight nonprofits: Angels Foster Care, Casa Serena, Community Counseling and Education Center (CCEC), Domestic Violence Solutions for Santa Barbara County (DVS), Girls Inc. of Carpinteria, Standing Together to End Sexual Assault (STESA), Storyteller Children’s Center, and St. Vincent’s.
Applications for the CAF are accepted each year starting in January. Prospective applicants for the 2022-23 year are encouraged to visit the JLSB website for more information.
