Laguna Blanca 8-man football bounced back from its first loss last week with a 60-32 victory over Malibu High on Friday in Hope Ranch.

The Rams are now 5-1 overall and will close out the regular season on the road next Thursday against Villanova Prep.

“Today was a great team performance. Everyone made essential contributions, especially underclassmen,” Laguna Blanca head coach Matt Escobar said. “One of our goals was to have several different guys score and trust that our offensive line would put us in a great position and on schedule. Both goals were met.

“On defense, our guys made great adjustments on the field to improve throughout the game.”

The offensive line, led by senior Jorge Gonzales, led the way in the potent offensive attack as six differnet Owls found the end zone.

Junior Kevin Castillo secured a hat trick of three touchdowns, while fellow juniors Luke Popovich, Jaden Yanez and Lawler Jackson all scored as well.

Meanwhile, the sophomore duo of Oliver Archibald and Matthew Polo each scored touchdowns to round out the scoring.

Defensively, senior Luke Rice shined in the secondary with several pass deflections to limit the Malibu passing attack.
