Laguna Blanca 8-man football kicked off its season with a 36-8 rout of Orcutt Academy on Friday.
The Owls wasted no time getting started as Luke Popovich connected with Jaden Yanez for a 60-yard touchdown on the first play of the season.
The Popovich-to-Yanez duo was on fire all game long, coming together for a trio of touchdowns. Yanez also rushed for a 42-yard touchdown to end with four scores.
Meanwhile, Kevin Castillo spearheaded the Laguna Blanca rushing attack with 83 yards and a touchdown.
On the defensive end, Jorge Gonzalez ended the day with a team-high 10 tackles, including four for a loss.
The Owls put the finishing touches on the win in the fourth quarter with a 12-yard rushing touchdown by Matthew Polos.
Laguna Blanca (1-0) will host the Cuyama Valley Bears next Friday at 3 p.m.
