Laguna Blanca 8-man football continued its undefeated start to the season with a 58-28 victory over San Luis Obispo Classical Academy on Saturday.
The Owls are now 3-0 on the year and have outscored opponents 142-50 along the way.
For the third straight game, Laguna Blanca scored on its first offensive play of the game as junior Luke Popovich and junior Jaden Yanez connected on a 38-yard touchdown strike.
On the ensuing drive, juniors Michael Couvillion and Ash Lustfield combined to force and recover a fumble to give the Owls strong field position.
Laguna Blanca junior Kevin Castillo then barrelled his way into the end zone for a touchdown to extend the lead. Castillo dominated the game from there, accounting for 150 total yards of offense and scoring four touchdowns to help pull away for the win.
“I was really impressed with our performance on offense and the defense played well overall, especially versus Rhett Soto on San Luis’s side, who made us pay several times,” Laguna Blanca head coach Matthew Escobar said. “The defense kept strong and rallied.”
The Owls will be on the road against Valley Oaks on Friday at 7 p.m.
