Laguna Blanca boys volleyball went 4-1 in the Chadwick Tournament on Saturday, winning their pool before falling in the championship game.
The Owls took down Chadwick (25-12, 25-16), Hawthorne Math & Science (25-18, 25-12) and West Torrance (25-20, 25-17) to come out on top in pool play.
In their first playoff matchup of the tournament, Laguna Blanca cruised past Torrance 25-14, clinching a spot in the championship.
There, the Owls faced off against West Torrance in a pool-play rematch and this time West Torrance got the better of Laguna Blanca, coming out on top 25-23.
“It was a good overall day for us,” Owls coach Jason Donnelly said. “We played solid volleyball pretty much all day long. We had a little lull in the final game but battled back to 22-22. They made a few more plays than we did at the end.”
Ganden Walker earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for Laguna Blanca, leading the team with 35 total kills and 14 digs, including 12 kills in the single-set semifinal matchup with Torrance.
Meanwhile, Tyson Deveze collected 25 kills, Baylor Wilson registered 16 digs and Liam Knezevic came away with nine blocks on the day.
The Owls will host Santa Ynez on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
