Laguna Blanca boys volleyball opened Tri-Valley League action with a four-set rivalry win over Cate on Thursday in Santa Barbara.
After splitting the first two sets, the Owls rattled off two straight sets to take the match victory, 25-20, 25-27, 25-18, 25-20.
“It’s always good to start league play with a win,” Laguna Blanca coach Tanner Stevens said. “We showed we have lots to work on but we also had lots of positives and plenty to build on.”
Soren Alldredge dominated from the outside for the Owls with a match-high 26 kills, while Teddy Wilson ended the night with six kills.
Baylor Wilson was crucial to Laguna Blanca’s success, dishing out 42 assists and scooping up 12 digs. Meanwhile, Jamie Levinson provided strong passing and defense.
Lucian Tann paced the Cate offense with 10 kills, while Rowan Foster hammered down six kills and Philip Choi tallied five.
“With only two matches played this season, the growth and development of this young squad are already evident,” Cate coach Meaghan Wheeler said. “The Rams look forward to continuing to build and compete as the season progresses.”
