Laguna Blanca improved to 9-0 on the season after sweeping two games at its own quad Saturday, beating Paso Robles and Maranatha, both by 3-0 scores.
“Both matches were good, competitive matches that tested us in different ways,” Laguna Blanca assistant coach Kat Niksto said.
Set scores against Paso Robles were 25-14, 25-19, 25-13, the sets close until the Owls pulled away with good serving runs. Caden Weaver, Kincade Avery and Drew Levinson each had three aces.
Against Maranatha, Laguna Blanca swept 25-19, 25-21, 25-17. In the middle of set three, “Carson Bohnet came off the bench and served a few good balls, and picked up some key digs, really turning the momentum of the game,” Niksto said.
For the day, Tyson Deveze had 21 kills and seven aces. Thomas Couvillion added 20 kills and 11 digs, and Avery had 18 kills and nine aces. Liam Knezevic dished 66 assists and had seven digs.
“Thomas has a solid day offensively, hitting .425% and Drew Levinson showed his versatility playing both in the middle and on the right,” Niksto said. “Caden had a solid day passing in serve receive, passing the most balls on the team at an impressive 2.54 rating.”
The Owls are next in action on Monday, March 13, at Dunn.
